WOOT! New strip and we close in on the mystery (and some architecture). I’ll write more soon but Laura Terry is borrowing my computer to talk to Alison Bechdel while I dance in the background. Hahaha.
Also, reference photo! I do a lot of laying across chairs to simulate swimming, it’s silly to see me. You can see my red pants below.

Do you like Mermaid Hostel?! Do you like MAIL?! Do you like screen-printed art?! E-mail me your address (inkyjen@gmail.com) by this Friday the 12th at 8am and you shall receive a special V-Day postcard specially screen-printing by yours truly! Even if you think I have your address, do it anyway or else I’ll think you do not want one.

P.S. I promise not to do anything creepy like crash on your couch or send you excessive amounts of expired coupons for poodle haircuts.
Liz Baillie! She's got the powers of Awesome (and levitation)
January, the month of cloudy days and cold winds. We stay inside to preserve the tips of our nose and all our digits but we can live through the stories we read and the comics we love! Liz Baillie, raconteur of the My Brain Hurts comics, recently began posting pages of her comic Freewheel on the internet. The story follows foster child Jamie Lynn and her stuffed animal (Logan the raccoon) as they search for her brother, Jack. After Jack is sent away from their foster home, there is no choice for Jamie but to train-hop to adventure. I’m excited about this series because Baillie captures the voices of her characters easily. Her ability to use the panel for story-telling purposes is absolutely enviable.
Via the beauty of the internet, you can donate money to the Freewheel: Volume One Fundraising Campout for the purpose of printing the webcomic after the first five chapter. Did I mention you receive awesome incentives to do so?! Each level of donation gives you something cool and guaranteed to be touched by Baillie herself. They range from certificates of your authentic awesomeness to commissioned work to signed copies to cameos in later comic chapters! Plus, they are represented by typical hobo campout items such as a can of beans or some hooch. You can check out the specifics over at Liz Baillie’s Freewheel site, read some sweet comics and plunk down some of the sweet holiday cash burning a hole in your patchwork-pants pocket.
YES, the answer is always yes. While I did not post a strip of my own on Friday (but Alex Wenzel’s guest strip) he posted one of mine on Saturday at Out at Home. Go on! Go enjoy it’s watercolor-y goodness. See ya on the fin side.
Yupp! Just wanted you to see Alex Wendzel’s take on Mermaid Hostel based on the current strips available. He’s awesome!

I sorta missed the boat on this one but Happy Hanukkah!
